WEEK 5 (Page 19,20,21) - STUDY REVIEW
ŸMARK T FOR TRUE AND F FOR FALSE (SEE PAGE 19, 20): ___ We don't need God to search our hearts. ___ We fully understand what is in our hearts. ___ Our motives are always pure & unselfish. ___ It takes a pure heart to see and know God. ___ Part of having a pure heart is to have pure love & devotion & passion for God. ___ Part of having a pure heart is loving God more than anything else, including yourself. ___ We naturally love God with a pure heart, and love Him more than anything, including self. ___ We need God to cleanse us and change us, so that we can love Him with a pure heart ___ True love for God ("agape" love) will involve submission, commitment, and sacrifice.
ŸREVIEW JOHN 4:34, LUKE 22:42, JOHN 5:19,30 & 14:31 (PAGE 20); CHOOSE THE STATEMENTS THAT ARE TRUE: ___ Jesus lived His earthly life trying to fulfill His own desires and plans and goals and dreams. ___ Jesus' main motivation was to do His Father's will. ___ Jesus did not struggle at all and did not need to pray for God's help in order to obey God concerning dying on the cross. (see Luke 22:39-46) ___ Even though Jesus struggled & agonized to the point of sweating blood & water, He prayed and received the strength and power to obey His Father's will to die on the cross. ___ Jesus obeyed and followed God's will because He loved God, His Father.
ŸREAD JOHN 13:36-38 (PAGE 20); PETER SINCERELY TOLD JESUS THAT HE WOULD FOLLOW HIM ANYWHERE, BUT HE ENDED UP DENYING JESUS. LATER, PETER GAVE HIS LIFE FOR JESUS, AND DIED UPSIDE DOWN ON A CROSS. MARK THE STATEMENTS THAT ARE TRUE: ___ Sincerely trying your best (in your ability, strength,...) will be good enough for following God ___ We naturally will love and follow God, no matter what He leads us to do. ___ We naturally want to follow our will, and our plans & desires,... ___ It was the "filling" of the Holy Spirit in Peter (Acts 1:8) that made the big difference. ___ Our natural love & devotion for God will always end up falling short of full surrender to God
ŸPAUL WAS ONE OF THE MOST PASSIONATE SERVANTS OF JESUS, AND GOD USED HIM IN POWERFUL WAYS; READ PHIL. 3:7-11, 2 COR. 5:9,14-15, AND I TIMOTHY 1:12-14; WHICH IS TRUE ? (PAGE 20): ___ Paul was a strong person, and had a natural passion & love & devotion for God and for Jesus ___ Paul got his strength & power (grace) and faith and love/devotion/passion for God from Jesus, via His Holy Spirit. (see I Timothy 1:12-14)
ŸREAD PSALM 51:4 ; WE NEED TO REALIZE THAT WHEN WE SIN, WE AREN'T SINNING AGAINST A SET OF RULES, BUT PERSONALLY AGAINST GOD.
ŸTRUE SORROW FOR YOUR SIN AGAINST GOD & TRUE CONFESSION MEANS: ___ You are sorry -- for getting caught and now having to pay the price for it. ___ It's ok to keep sinning the same ways over & over , just as long as you keep confessing. ___ True sorrow for personally hurting & offending God leads you to repent/turn/change.
Get face to face with God and prayerfully review this week's material. Ask God to show you how you can be closer to Him and more one with Him.
