WHY SHOULD WE PRAY AND
SPEND TIME W/GOD ?

  • # 1 REASON: BECAUSE GOD DESIRES OUR FELLOWSHIP, SINCE WE ARE VERY SPECIAL AND PRECIOUS TO HIM. HE CREATED US SO WE COULD HAVE CLOSE FELLOWSHIP AND WALK WITH HIM

- "God, who has called you into fellowship with His son Jesus Christ our Lord is faithful."       - I Cor. 1:9
("koinania" fellowship- "the fullest possible fellowship & partnership with God, and with others in the church. Intimate fellowship with God and His son Jesus produces this type of fellowship and unity in a church. Only God can produce this genuine koinania fellowship, love, and unity.")   (Henry Blackaby)

"The purpose of prayer is that we get ahold of God, not just get ahold of the answer. Whenever we insist that God should give us an answer to prayer, we are off track."
- Oswald Chambers/"My Utmost For His Highest"

(My Heart Christ's Home /"The Living Room")

-  "For you are all SONS OF GOD through faith in Christ Jesus."
                                                                        ---
GALATIANS 3:26

- " I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not
know his master's business; instead I have called you
friends"
                                                                        -
JOHN 15:15

- PAGE 6 (WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST / HOW GOD SEES US)

            - DEUTERONOMY 30:15-20; JOHN 14:6  (GOD/JESUS IS OUR LIFE)
            - DEUTERONOMY  8:3  (GOD'S WORD GIVES US LIFE)
            - LAMENTATIONS 3:24 (GOD IS
THE SOURCE OF ALL WE NEED)
            - JOHN 6:35 (ONLY JESUS CAN SATISFY & FULFILL US)
            - JOHN 8:12 (JESUS GIVES PURPOSE & DIRECTION FOR LIFE)
            - PSALM 63:2,3  ("GOD'S LOVE IS BETTER THAN LIFE")

- "O, THE FULLNESS, THE PLEASURE, THE SHEER EXCITEMENT OF
KNOWING GOD ON EARTH."         (Jim Elliott)

"The time a Christian gives to prayer and fellowship with God is not meant for his/her carnal or natural life, but to nourish the life of Jesus in him/her."    (Oswald Chambers)

  • GOD DESIRES FOR US TOKNOW HIM, TO BELIEVE HIM, TO UNDERSTAND THAT HE IS GOD.
          (JOHN 17:3 ;  ISAIAH 43:10 ; PSALM 27:4)

  • YOU NEED TO SPEND TIME WITH GOD, SEEK HIM, AND BE FULLY COMMITTED TO HIM IN ORDER TO KNOW HIM & HIS WILL & PLANS & BECOME MORE LIKE JESUS:
    - PHILIPPIANS 3:7-14
    - PSALM 27:4

" For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."    - Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has special plans for our lives, plans to bless us and prosper us. The next two verses spell out the necessary conditions for you and me to receive the benefit of His plans, "Then when you call upon Me and come and pray to Me, I will hear you. When you search for Me, You will find Me; if you seek Me with all your heart"
(Jeremiah 29:12-13)

"You can duplicate the words and deeds of a spiritually mature Christian, but you cannot inherit his or her walk with God. Christian maturity takes effort; it comes over time. If you ignore the place of prayer and if you neglect your relationship with Christ, you will not grow in your faith. Imitating the faith of others will not give you victory. Only as you nurture your own relationship with Jesus will your life be filled with spiritual maturity and power."    (Henry Blackaby)

  • GOD WANT US TO HUMBLE OURSELVES & ACKNOWLEDGE HIM IN ALL THINGS. HE WANTS US TO DEPEND ON HIM:
"That which brings the praying soul near to God is humility of heart…Pride, self-esteem, and self-praise effectually shut the door of prayer."
- E.M. Bounds

"I discovered an astounding truth: God is attracted to weakness. He can't resist those who humbly and honestly admit how desperately they need him. Our weakness, in fact, makes room for his power."
- Jim Cymbala "Fresh Wind/ Fresh Fire"

"Faith is weakness clinging to strength, and becoming strong through so doing . . . Faith alone takes hold of the divine strength . . . God does not need your strength. He is longing to take your weakness and use it as the instrument in His mighty hand. Will you yield your weakness to Him, and receive His strength?"
- Charles Spurgeon

- " TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. IN
ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM AND HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT."     - PROV. 3:5,6

-
PSALM 51:17; DANIEL 10:12; 2 CHRON. 7:14; I PETER 5:6; MICAH 6:8

  • IT IS GOD'S WILL FOR US TO PRAY:
- "PRAY CONTINUALLY;... FOR THIS IS GOD'S WILL FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS."
-
I THESSALONIANS 5:17,18
