Sharing Christ In Brazil
November 2011
Kevin & Nancy Bart
Dear Friends,
We had a tremendous month in October, and we want to thank you for your prayers and encouragement. We also want to thank 2nd Baptist Church of Cedartown GA for sending a team of 6 people to help us for 8 days. They were a great help and encouragement to us. We also thank the many interpreters and other people who participated in the many outreach events we had, as well as Capela Calvario church, Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente, and Igreja Batista Nova Jerusalem. We all worked together to help these churches to share Jesus in homes, as well as in 4 public schools and 1 private school. We also had other "divine appointments" to share God's love and the Good News of Jesus with others person-to-person. We praise God that 2295 people accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him during these events, and we thank Him for the great privilege we have to join Him in His Kingdom work here in Brazil. To God be all glory, honor, & praise !

"Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him... Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare."
- Psalm 40:3,5

"The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become."
- Henry Martyn
Recent Events
Oct. 9: Preach at Igreja Batista Chico de Paula In Santos
Oct.16: Preach at Igreja Batista Nova Jerusalem -Santos
We have recently started to work with Igreja Batista Chico de Paula, to help them to share Jesus in their community. The church is led by Pastor Jose Cavalcante, and is located in a very poor section of Santos. We will be working with them in a nearby school in November, so Kevin had the opportunity to preach at the church, to encourage every church member to join God in His mission to reach lost people and make disciples.

We visited Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente on Sunday morning Oct.16, with the team from 2nd Baptist Church Cedartown GA. The church is led by Pr. Gilberto and Pr. Dener. Joseph Mauldin sang a solo, and we had a great time of worship with our Brazilian brothers & sisters in Christ. After the service we had lunch at the church, to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Kevin also preached at Igreja Batista Nova Jerusalem on Sunday night about God's Call & Missions. The church is led by Pr. Wilson, and we have previously worked with them in several schools. A young member of the church, Rebeca, was the interpreter. The team from Cedartown GA was with us, and Joseph also sang a solo during the service. In the end we shared the Gospel and 4 people accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him.

Oct.15: Evangelistic Visits To Homes In Sao Vicente
visits
We and the team from the US worked with Capela Calvario to share Christ in the neighborhood near the church. We visited many homes to share Jesus, and we praise God that 8 people accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him. Afterwards we enjoyed a time of fellowship and a typical Brazilian lunch at the church, including our favorite "churrasco" (Brazilian BBQ). Later that night we returned to the church for a pizza party, and we all had a great time.

Oct.17,19: EE Visc. Sao Leopoldo school in Santos
Oct.18-19: EM Therezinha school in Santos
school
We worked with Igreja Batista Nova Jerusalem and the team from the US in these schools. EE Visconde Sao Leopoldo is a state school with students from 5th grade through high school. EM Therezinha is a municipal school located in a very poor area of Santos, and has students from 1st to 4th grades, and classes for adults at night. The students loved having Americans in their school, and we had a great time of interacting with them. Both schools really liked the project very much, and both recommended us to other schools. EE Visconde is interested in receiving more help from the church, and this is always what we hope for. Hundreds of students received Christ in each school, and many teachers as well. One great way God worked was in EM Therezinha on Wed. night. One interpreter did not come, so the school's English teacher Jaqueline wanted to help. We told her that the message may be for her too, and in the 1st class she got very emotional as she was interpreting the part about Jesus and during the prayer. She not only helped out, but she said that she very much felt God touching her heart that night, and she joyfully accepted Christ too.

Oct.19-20: EE Armando Victorio Bei school - Sao Vicente
armando
We worked with Capela Calvario and the team from the  US in this large state school, which has students from 5th grade through high school. It is located in a fairly poor area of Sao Vicente. We spoke in 17 classes on Wed. morning, then in 17 more on Thu. afternoon and in 17 more on Thu. night. Once again the students loved interacting with Americans, and we had a great time in the school. Over 1000 students and many teachers accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him, and we praise God for how He powerfully worked in this school. The school and some teachers recommended us to other schools, and they asked if we could return once a month to continue to help. We are not able to, but we are hoping that the church will be able to put together a team and do the important follow up work to help them grow in their new relationship with Jesus.

Oct.19-20: EE Enio Vilas Boas school in Sao Vicente
Oct. 21: Colegio Batista school in Sao Vicente

We worked with Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente and the team from the US in these schools. EE Enio Vilas Boas is a state school in a poor area of Sao Vicente, and has students from 5th grade through high school. This school also really liked the project, and they very much appreciated the message and the effort to help their students & teachers. Over 200 people accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him, and once again the students loved talking to the American visitors.

Colegio Batista is a private school run by Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente, and has some pre-school students and others from 1st grade to 5th grade. Even though it is run by the church, many of the students and their families do not attend a church. We shared Jesus with the 1st to 5th grade students, and 57 students and 3 teachers accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him.
