Kevin & Nancy Bart - Sharing Christ In Brazil - July 2010 Newsletter

Dear Friends,  it is hard to believe that this year is already half over. It seems that every year goes by a little quicker than the previous year. God continues to glorify His name here by touching and saving many people and by transforming lives. He is mightily at work, and He continues to open many doors for us to help churches to share the wonderful news of Jesus with others. What a privilege it is for us to see God at work and to join Him in what He is doing in this part of the world. God has truly prepared an enormous harvest all over the world, for His glory, and many people are ready to have someone lovingly share the Good News of Jesus with them. May we all be faithful servants of our wonderful Lord and join Him in helping others to have a restored relationship with Him.

- Kevin & Nancy ,  John 4:35  -  Jesus said, "I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields. They are ripe for harvest."

Recent Events & Results:

June 13:  Preach at Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente

This is the 2nd time I had the privilege to preach at Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente, and we appreciate that Pastor Bilberto gave us another opportunity. The first was on Mothers Day in May. We will be working with the church in a school near them in August, and in other schools and other ways in the future. A member of the church, Leticia, helped again as my interpreter. I spoke about God's Word, his plans, and His promises, and how we will always do what He says, plans, or promises (Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 14:24, Isaiah 46:11...). We also shared some of God's great truths & promises about His work of reaching out to those without Christ, such as 2 Corinthians 2:14, Ephesians 3:20-21,... At the end of the message I shared the Gospel and 9 people received Christ and committed their lives to Him.

June 14, 16:  Speak at EMEF Florestan Fernandes municipal school in Santos

We worked with Primeira Igreja Batista Santos in this municipal school, which is located in the bairro of Embare in Santos. The participation of the church was good, and we had a great 2 days in the school. The school leaders were very grateful for us coming to help their students and teachers in their lives, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. The students were great, and they really enjoyed having some "gringo" Americans in their classes. God moved in a great way in many hearts & lives, and 565 students and 5 teachers received Christ and committed their lives to Him.

June 21-23:  Speak at EE Luiza Macuco state school in Santos

We worked with Igreja Batista Ponta da Praia, which is located a couple of blocks from the school. The school has students in the 5th grade through high school, and also some adults studying at night. We spoke to all of the students in their classes on Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday night. We had our normal difficulties and complications when we share the Good News of Jesus, especially when we share with a lot of people such as in a school ... one of our interpreters cancelled out on Mon. morning at the last minute, another was very late on Tuesday because of car troubles on the way to the school, another on Wed. night had a slight wreck on the way to the school. It almost never fails; almost always something or somethings go wrong. This work is a spiritual battle, and that is why we need many people to pray for us, as well as for the people we are sharing with. As is always the case though, God helped us to overcome all of the difficulties and obstacles, and He did some great things this week in the hearts and lives of students and teachers. God moved in a great way in the school and in people's hearts, and 742 students and 18 teachers received Christ as their Lord and Savior, and committed their lives to Him. We praise God for the great things He is doing. He is mightily at work here and in all parts of the world.

June 27:  Preach at Igreja Batista Centenario in Santos

Igreja Batista Centenario is a small church in Santos, and is led by Pastor Luis. We have recently started working with the church to help them share Christ with others in their community, and to encourage & challenge all the members to participate in the work of God of reaching out to people without Christ, and to then love them and help them to grow in their relationship with Him. Our first opportunity to help them will be in late August when we speak in a municipal school near the church. On Sunday night we had a meeting with some of the leaders of the church, to share God's vision and details of our ministry to help churches, and to talk about the project in the schools. Then I had the privilege to preach in the worship service after the meeting. Although the church is fairly small it is growing, and there seems to be a good spirit and a willingness to do whatever is necessary to join God in His work. At the end of the message I share the Gospel and 1 woman received Christ and committed her life to Him.

Prayer Requests & Praises

* Please pray for Nancy. She caught some type of bacterial infection in one of her eyes at one of our events in May. She is on medicine for it, but it is taking time to get better, and now it has spread to her other eye. Her vision is blurred in one eye, and there is a lot of discomfort in the other.

* Please pray that God will touch & save many people, and that He will be glorified by all we do in our upcoming events:  Aug. 2-4 : Speak at EMEF Gota de Leite school in Santos ...   Aug.8  :  Preach at Primeira Igreja Batista Itapema in Guaruja ...   Aug. 16-17 : Speak at EMEF Constante school in Sao Vicente ...    Aug. 22 :  Preach at Igreja Batista Ponta da Praia in Santos ...  Aug. 30-31 : Speak at EMEF Auxiliadora school in Santos.

* Please pray for God's wisdom and guidance as we will be making some important financial decisions soon, and as we search for an immigration lawyer to start the process for dual citizenship.

Special thanks to Leticia, Rebeca, Camila, Ricardo, Kevin, Heloisa, Nayara, Alyne, Arlete, and Ludimila for helping us as interpreters in recent events in June. You are very special to us, and we appreciate your help and your willingness to serve the Lord.
