Kevin & Nancy Bart - Sharing Christ In Brazil - August 2011 Newsletter

Dear Friends,  We had a great 3 week trip to the US in late June and July, and we praise God for it. We were able to see 2 of our 3 sons, many members of our families, and many friends also. We are well rested and ready to get back to the task of sharing Jesus with as many people as we can. The winter break in the schools is over, and we start up again speaking in schools next week. We have many great opportunities to share Jesus in the upcoming months that God has given us, and we are looking forward to seeing Him at work. We will also be starting to work with several new churches. Please pray that God will empower us to share the Good News of Jesus boldly and powerfully, for His glory.   - Kevin & Nancy

"Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly."  - Acts 4:29-31

June 5, 12: People Sharing Jesus seminar at Capela Calvario in Sao Vicente

We started working with this church earlier this year, and Kevin has already preached at the church 2 times, and we have worked with them in a nearby school. The church is led by Pr. Celso and Pr. Chris. We held the seminar to train members of the church to share Jesus with others on 2 Sunday mornings, and the participation was good. In October we will be working with them in an outreach event to visit homes to share Jesus, and also in a large school near the church.

June 13-15 : Speak at EE Oswaldo Santos Soares school in Sao Vicente

We had our outreach project Qualidade De Vida in this state school in Sao Vicente. We worked with Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente in the school, which is for students in 6th grade through high school. We spoke in the classes on Monday morning, Tuesday night, and Wednesday afternoon. Since Kevin was sick the week before and in the beginning of the week, we were concerned that he was going to lose his voice. Thankfully it held out, barely. The project went very well, and the school leaders liked it alot and recommended us to some other schools in Sao Vicente. Many of the students and teachers gladly listened to and received the message. God moved in a great way, and we praise Him that 606 students and 9 teachers accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him.

June 20-22 : Speak at EM Pedro II school in Santos

This was our final school outreach project for the 1st semester. We spoke at the EM Pedro II municipal school in Santos on Monday morning, Tuesday night, and Wednesday afternoon. We worked with Igreja Batista Ponta da Praia, which is located very close to the school. The participation of the church was very good, and most of our interpreters were from their church. The school has students in the 1st through 8th grades, as well as some night classes for adults. We spoke in 32 classes in 3 days, and we had a great time in the school. The school leaders told us that the teachers and students really loved our project, and they were very appreciative for the help. They recommended us to 3 more schools in the Santos municipal school system. God touched and prepared many hearts, and 645 students (including over 100 adults studying at night) and 15 teachers accepted Christ and committed their lives to Him. What a great way to finish the first half of the year.

June 26: Speak at 2nd Baptist Church in Cedartown GA

During our trip to the US we had the opportunity to visit 2nd Baptist Church in Cedartown GA for their Sunday night service. Nancy sang during the service, and Kevin had the opportunity to share what God is doing in our part of Brazil. The church is led by a friend of ours, Pr. Patrick Latham, and they will be sending 6 people to help us to share Jesus in October. Thanks to their help we will be able to do 2 months of work in 1 week, and we are excited to see what God is going to do in that special week. We will be working with 3 churches in Santos and Sao Vicente, and will be speaking in 5 schools. We will also have an outreach event to visit homes to share Jesus. We will be sharing Jesus with over 4000 people during that week, and we are very grateful to the church for their help.
